Hearthstone doesn't seem exceedingly interesting to me, but I think I could start playing without much effort. It seems like a good game but I don't completely understand the mechanics. You have to play cards in a turn-based system, which I know, but there's more to it than that.

I agree with @kreat, basically just play the game and don't think too much. Often the best experiences with a game come from going in completely blind. Remember that the developers created the game with the fact that you would have no prior experience in mind.
I tend to play Mercy and heal, although that doesn't get me much appreciation. It's pretty annoying that people just disregard me until they're dying. I've considered switching playstyles but healing seems to fit me the best. I don't mind though since I still have fun.
